my friend joanne is a member of car2go in vancouver. at one point this summer we needed to move a couch and didn’t have “a friend with a truck”. i said car2go should have trucks for those times when a smart car just doesn’t have the trunk space. which is basically any time you have more than two bags of groceries. i saw a business opportunity.
those of you that know me (which i suppose is all of you) know that i come up with at least one business idea per week. i love to talk about and think about possible business ideas. leona rolls her eyes. obviously, very few of them come to fruition but i enjoy the process and think about this quote…”treat all your ideas as royalty, you never know which one will be queen” – can’t remember who i pinched that from, but i changed it a little so i think it’s mine now. go ahead and use it.
anyway, i am now in italia and these little trucks are common and sooo cute and useful. this particular model is the ape 50. it’s pronounced ah-pay and is italiano for bee. it’s made by the same company who makes vespas, which is italian for wasp.
i’m not sure what the payload is for these little insects, but i’ve seen them loaded with vegetables. there is an elderly couple who drive one around cefalu. they are wedged into the cab and the woman wears a fur coat. i’d take a photo but i don’t want to be that sort.
here’s the wiki link that will tell you more about them.
the idea so far…import a couple. set up a really simple truck2go rental scheme. allow non-profits to advertise on the side panels.
i know insurance would be an issue, as would importing them but i haven’t researched how difficult it would be.
alright, who thinks this is a good idea? or a bad one? or wants to invest?
ps. welcome and thank you for reading my first blog post.
